Retail Store Fixtures that Are Good for Your Store

Shoppers should not notice the kind of shelving and other retail store fixtures that are used to place the products.  If they do then either the product placement is not what it should be or the actual store fixtures are in such bad condition, that a child of two will look at it and comment on how old, rusty or bad it looks.

When setting a product in or on store displays, care should always be taken with the display shelving, store display fixtures and the retail store design.  Hardly anyone that goes shopping actually notices the display fixtures, all they should be looking are the store displays and the marketing that gets them interested in buying the product in the first place.

When you walk into a shop and you see dusty, old, flimsy, rusty and badly placed display fixtures, it puts you off buying the product.  A good retailer knows this and will not allow things to be displayed in such a way.  Now, the product that is being sold will look good on certain types of display shelving or retail fixtures, and not so good on others, so finding the right type of store fixtures can be an art in its self.  After all, there are many different kinds of store display fixtures to choose from, how do people know which are right and which are wrong?  We don’t, until we sort out our retail store design.

One of the best things to do is to go around existing stores and look at the products closest to what you are selling and look at what kind of store display fixtures they have.  Display fixtures come in many shapes and forms, but most store displays come across as the same thing, display shelving.  There are a few good types of this and we will go through those in a bit.  Something you can do is to imagine what the product will look like on different displays.  Do not make the ultimate mistake of copying the same retail fixtures as they have their products displayed on, as this may well remind the customer of your competitions store (not a good thing).  Try to find something that actually compliments the product being sold.

Gondola shelving is one of the most popular types of retail shelving, in use today.  It’s the one you get in your local grocery shop, convenience store, pharmacy, hardware store and home furnishing store.  You know the ones with all the little holes, between the shelves that hook on.  Basic no fuss retail shelving, that can have almost anything placed on it and will not look out of place.  The other good thing about gondola shelving is that it is one of the most reasonably priced, types of store fixtures on the market.

The uses for gondola shelving, are many and there are not many products that look out of place when put on this retail shelving.  In fact you would be hard done by, to find something that really looks wrong, when it is displayed on gondola shelving.  It’s strong, long lasting, easy to fit and easily maneuvered, also it is readily available from the our website and retail store design specialists.

Slatwall panels are a different type of display, that have grooves built in, to which you can attach accessories and display all sorts of products.  Like the gondola shelving, slatwall panels are very easy to use, when it comes to arranging different widths and depths of the shelving itself, but you can also place the other accessories anywhere along the slatwall displays.  Hanging objects or the products from the slatwall displays is a very eye catching way of putting your items on show and can be used in very inventive methods.

For example, you could have a waterfall, where the items are hung in a tier effect, either by hooks or on their own hangers.  Hang rails are another easy option with the slatwall panels, that save a lot of room when showing your products.  Faceout hooks, as the name suggests, face outwards and are excellent for clothing and jewelry.

Another great aspect of the slatwall displays, is that they come in three different types, there is Paint Grate Slatwall, which is the wood effect that can be primed and painted.  Then the Melamine Slatwall, which looks like a grained wood appearance, which comes in different colors, so you would have to match those colors with your shop interior, if you so wanted.  The third type is more durable than the first two and is the High Pressure Laminate Slatwall, this even comes in over 300 different colors, so the choice is yours.  Some of the most posh stores have slatwall displays, so go have a look and see where you can find it, you will be surprised and be sure to check out the slatwall accessories, as there are lots.

Gridwall, like the Slatwall is a great saver of floor space, but can also be used as a floor display itself.  It is even cheaper than the Slatwall which is surprising, considering it is that much trendier than the latter.  It comes in the form of a grid, as the name suggests and is easy to assemble on the walls or the shop floor.  The most popular colors are brushed nickel, chrome and black.  You can also get an acrylic version, which does detract from the hardware its self, so that the product stands out even more.

One of the other brilliant things about gridwall, is the fact that you can see through it, which means when having it as a floor display you can look all around the shop, without having a big obstruction in your way.  Good for security and fashionable, can you get any better?

The one thing everybody should remember, when thinking of buying retail store supplies, is to take inventory of their stock.  This way you will have a better idea of the retail fixtures and fittings you’ll need to go with the rest of your store design.  Store display fixtures, display shelving and any other store fixtures that you can think of, are just as important as getting the right stock.  First impressions are always important, especially when it comes to someone walking into a shop.  After all, it could be the difference between people buying and the shop closing, so think about the retail store design.
