Stop Counterfeiting in Your Store

While shelving and displays are key components in every store, keeping your store secure is also critical to your bottom line. At M. Fried Store Fixtures, we can easily assist you with some simple but effective security measures.

Did you know that counterfeit currency printing is on the rise? U.S. Secret Service data indicates that computer-created fake money printed on common paper increased in use by a massive 45 percent in from 1995 to 2000. The numbers continue to rise and are expected to maintain a dangerous, upswing trend.

One simple way in which to step up security in your store is with our Counterfeit Detector Pens (Item 3513B). Virtually anyone can use these pens that, with a simple swipe, immediately let you know the validity of the currency you receive.

The iodine solution in the detector pen reacts with starch, a common element in the wood-based copy paper commonly used in printers. If the bill is bogus and the paper is wood-based, the iodine will create a reaction with the starch, leaving a dark mark—brown or black—on the bill.

Authentic or fiber-based bills will create an amber mark that is not permanent; however, in some cases, a pastel line will remain, which is biodegradable and meant to fade away after a day. This pastel line enables you, within the first day or so, to determine which bills have been tested. Swiping a counterfeit bill with the pen will result in a dark brown or black ink stain.

Inexpensive and meant to screen several thousand bills, you can economically buy several and instantly increase your store’s security program with this simple Currency Control device.
